A wish for Peace at Christmas

A poem by Debbie Walker

Christmas is traditionally a time of joy and cheer,

but today my thoughts are with those who’ve suffered loss

during this most difficult and extraordinary year.

As our memories begin to crowd

and the bells of pain and loss ring loud,

I begin to wonder, if the only way through

Must be with a tear or two.

For those whose path ahead still looks far from clear,

My thoughts are with you, alongside those whom we each held dear

Here’s hoping that our precious memories can provide,

Peace and comfort,

to help our pain subside.

And tonight we must remember that as long as our loved ones are in our hearts,

then we will never truly be apart.

Wishing you a peaceful Christmas, with a better year ahead for everyone
